Levity is the new music program put together by Levi's®. It's an artist development program that's aimed at playing a role in developing the careers of artists we think can rise above the rest.
Levi's® has had a relationship with music and musicians for a long time with from the Stones, Dylan and Madonna to more recently Massive Attack and Air and events like St Jerome's Laneway Festival. So now Levi's® Jeans is giving something back and playing a role in developing the careers of artists we love.
The label is being put together by former recent Channel [V] and Max Marketing Director Andrew Valder through the newly formed music marketing company Rodriguez. Todd Wagstaff (The Vines, You Am I, The Mercy Arms) has been enlisted to provide A&R services to the new label.
The Levity label idea, which was developed in Australia by Levi's® and Rodriguez, will sign artists to short term deals and aims to work with the best new emerging talent in Australasia.
Levity's first release is with New Zealand artists, Cut Off Your Hands. The band were recently in the UK playing shows, and whilst they were there, recorded an EP for Levity with Bernard Butler (Suede).
Levity will be distributed exclusively in Australia through Inertia.
