The dynamic B-Boys THES ONE and DOUBLE K are without question one of the most prominent underground acts around and have accumulated a scan history
in excess of 130,000 units in the US alone across their five previous efforts.
With ‘Fun DMC’ the guys have gone back to their roots and brought back the hardcore fun body rockin’ showstoppin’ boom bap, with productions and arrangements recalling the likes of PHIL SPECTOR or BRIAN WILSON as much as PETE ROCK or DR. DRE! Always fun, always on point – these cats are smooth West Coast operators!
The new album will be released on CD and 2LP. The CD will have a 24 page booklet, with a cartoon drawn by Thes and Double K themselves.
The first single will be released early September, and will be accompanied by a stunning video (“The Wiz”), filmed right here in Australia! Regular visitors to our shores the boys are bound to be back here touring soon. Check em out on Bondi Beach in January of this year here.
To accurately put the party back front and center, the duo went to the streets of South Central to record the sounds of weekend barbecues and parties, capturing a sound and atmosphere impossible to recreate in the studio. “We wanted to get the ambience of the dudes playing dominoes, the meat sizzling on the grill, the planes flying by,” explains Thes One. “We just said, ‘Let’s try to get what our Saturday is like onto a record. Instead of making a record about Saturday, let’s actually go out and record Saturday.”
