The Cazals finally arrive at their debut album ‘What Of Our Future’. In addition to finding their home at Kitsune, Cazals have toured Japan with Daft Punk and have shows lined up with Erol Alkan and Digitalism.
Like Phoenix, Cazals are an indie rock band immersed and embedded in (mostly French) dance culture, though Cazals come across as rather more gruff and unrefined, largely due to the pub rock growl of vocalist Phil.
The band are eminently capable of despatching big choruses when necessary, and aren’t short of decent riffs either - check out the guitar part on the Spandau Ballet cover (that has helped establish their name overseas) ’To Cut A Long Story Short’. Few bands anywhere are mixing spiky sharp power-pop with electro dance this well.
