A Skin A Night + Virginia Ep
Beggars Banquet
INDIE
Almost a year after THE NATIONAL release their moody, meticulous fourth album ‘Boxer’, a 60 minute exclusive documentary by French director VINCENT MOON has emerged to offer an arty, intimate view into the creation of the quintet’s resplendent benchmark record.
Vincent Moon (aka Mathieu Saura), is renowned for his web-based ‘Take Away Shows’ at LA BLOGOTHEQUE and his video work with R.E.M. & ARCADE FIRE.
‘A Skin, A Night’ is a highly unusual documentary replete with behind-the-scene footage of The National on tour and in the studio.
The film is a visual masterwork in itself. Moon clearly possesses insightful, voyeuristic methods of capturing arty and poignant images and insightful yet anxious in-the-studio shots. The film is a unique meditation on the creative process; a portrait of impressions, mutual affections, and intimate moments.
The package also includes a 12 track EP of material from the band, featuring b-sides, demos, a session track & some exclusive live cuts.
The Virginia EP includes a live version of the epic track “Fake Empire”, which recently won SONG OF THE YEAR at NYC’s 2008 Plug Awards, and a sumptuous cover of ‘BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’s “Mansion On The Hill”.
The National will tour the U.S.A. with R.E.M in late-May/June and headline ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES, before playing summer festivals across Europe.
This is undeniably a very special and unique release, one that is guaranteed to excite the fans, and more than likely win them an exuberant amount of new admirers.
