Perth four-piece SNOWMAN return with their second album. One listen makes it more than evident that this is a far from ordinary album. The magnetic forces (that are more than obvious within the band and its music) have drawn them together to uncover a creatively ambitious and sonically adventurous magnum opus.
Snowman's self titled debut album in 2006 scored them some major attention. The band walked away with three outstanding achievements from the 2007 WAMi Awards, winning 'Most Popular Album', 'Most Popular Music Video' ("You Are A Casino") and 'Best Rock Act'. TRIPLE J played three of the album tracks ("Swimming With Sharks", "Smoke & Mirrors" and "You Are A Casino") on high rotation for an extended period. The band then toured nationally with bands such as INTERPOL, WOLFMOTHER, THE MINT CHICKS, THE LIARS and REGURGITATOR.
‘The Horse, The Rat and The Swan' has been produced by David Parkin of Blackbird Studio. There is a ferocious urgency, a mysteriously dark and intriguing energy at play... a flow, a long hidden path to be uncovered, running through the album's dense instrumentation. "We Are The Plague" sounds like a final message picked up on the scanners of a post-apocalyptic, galactic battleship, "Daniel Was A Timebomb" careens on a reckless rockabilly riff, "A Rebirth" and "She Is Turning In To You" are transfigurations; the sound of a band mutating, breaking out of its chrysalis and taking on a new form. "The Horse (Parts 1 and 2)" is pure ritual; possessed and frantic and "Diamond Wounds" sees Snowman mutate and emerge into a guitar orchestra to create a sonic architecture, into a cavernous underworld of their own creation.
