Steve Ellington aka Tha 4orces’ 20 year career in music has seen him produce and remix artists such as Amy Winehouse, LL Cool J, Common, Busta Rhymes, Ms Dynamite, Oleta Adams and Foxy Brown. Shame then that he is better known for being Ali G’s fast talking DJ in ‘Da Ali G Show’, full time presenter on MTV/MTV Base.
‘Mind the Gap Anthems’ is a live hip hop album which sees Mr Ellington join forces with established UK musicians; arranger and keyboard don Tim Baxter, bass player Pete Terry and drummer Dom Bannister. Vocals come courtesy of the excellent Marissa Anglin – whose voice is remarkably reminiscent of Amy Winehouse’s, only better; Poynt Black; and Russell Nash, who saw massive success with the outfit Nash (Polydor Records) back in 2000.
