Following the amazing success story of Vashti Bunyan’s recent re-emergence as an artist after an exile of over 30 years, we are proud and excited to release ‘Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind’, a comprehensive compilation of early recordings dating from the period prior to Vashti’s classic ‘Just Another Diamond Day’
Before she dropped out and set off on that epic horse and cart journey up the coast of the England and before any of the ‘Just Another Diamond Day’ songs, these recordings reveal a young London girl writing a series of beautiful love songs that resonate profoundly via an almost brutal efficiency and honesty.
This 2CD and Double LP album features the JAGGER / RICHARDS penned ‘Somethings Just Stick In Your Mind’, and Vashti Bunyan’s two other rare DECCA singles, alongside previously unheard acetates, unreleased singles and other rarities.
The second disc is of Vashti’s first ever recording session – discovered only days before the album as it stood was about to be mastered.
‘Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind’ nevertheless stands up as an incredibly strong release next to ‘Just Another Diamond Day’ and unearths another beautifully fragile chapter in Vashti’s history.
Vashti is the subject of a feature length documentary currently being made by KIERAN EVANS (who co-directed ST. ETIENNE’s acclaimed ‘Finisterre’), with a director’s cut and previews expected by the end of 2007. This will also form part of the album’s campaign.
