THE NEXTMEN are BRAD BALOO & DOM SEARCH and ‘This Was Supposed To Be The Future’ is their first album for 3 years. Since their ‘Get Over It’ LP, they’ve been busy releasing a number of their cult CD mixes, such as ‘Not The Nextmen’, ‘Personal Golf Instructions’ and the outstanding ANTIDOTE mix cd ‘Blunted In The Backroom’.
‘This Was Supposed To Be The Future’ was recorded and produced in London by the boys and it is an eclectic mix of tracks covering Funk, Hip-Hop, Soul and House. There has been a definite shift in the duo’s musical direction from their mainly hip hop based previous albums, to a set of tracks which ultimately reflects their acclaimed DJ sets, where they spin everything from Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, House, Rock, Jungle and 80’s.
A fantastic list of guest MC’s and collaborators are featured on ‘This Was Supposed To Be The Future’ including: DALLAS aka JOE DUKIE (FAT FREDDYS DROP), SWAY (Mobo Best newcomer), L.S.K (FAITHLESS), KIDZ IN THE HALL (RAWKUS RECORDS), ALICE RUSSELL (QUANTIC), DYNAMITE MC, and many, many more...
This album will appeal to a wider fan base, attracting audiences similar to those of ZERO 7 and AIR, as well as re engaging the fans of The Nextmen, and their reputation as one of the finest party DJ duos on the scene
