i'll sleep when you're dead
Definitive Jux
HIP HOP
‘I'll Sleep When You’re Dead’ is the latest offering from this NYC based ground-breaking virtuoso, destined to once again set the bar for hip hop music and alternative music in general.
From the mid 90s when he impacted hip hop history with his seminal group COMPANY FLOW, to starting indie rap behemoth DEFINITIVE JUX RECORDS through to present day, El-P has continued to gain the respect and love of fans and critics alike.
Since the 2002 release of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful solo effort ‘Fantastic Damage’, El-P has been lending his considerable production skills to a variety of projects - including albums from Def Jux artists such as CAGE and MR. LIF, to remixes for NINE INCH NAILS, BECK, TV ON THE RADIO, BLACKALICIOUS, HOT HOT HEAT, GHOSTFACE KILLAH and more, to a collection of exclusives, remixes and b-sides (“Collecting the Kid”), a jazz album (“High Water”) and composing a celebrated film score (‘Bomb the System’ ) and will soon be remixing a song from the new CAT POWER album.
“I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead” embodies everything that is El-P – a groundbreaking artist, virtuosic producer, profound lyricist, label founder, A&R maverick and underground icon reacting to the malignant societal changes occurring today. The album features collaborations and appearances from THE MARS VOLTA, TRENT REZNOR, CAT POWER, AESOP ROCK, CAGE, MR LIF, MATT SWEENEY, JAMES MCNEW , ROB SONIC and MR DIBBS!!
