Flashback to 2001: the entire dance music world is talking about a hot new label called CITY ROCKERS, one that goes on to change the global scene forever with releases by FELIX DA HOUSECAT and the timeless FUTURISM mix CDs. The label's A&R hotshot and the compiler / mixer of those comps was DJ and journalist, DAMIAN LAZARUS.
Jump to 2004 and Lazarus leaves City Rockers to start his own label - Crosstown Rebels. It's take on electro / minimal / techno has gone on to typify today's underground club music - a sound that is rapidly heading overground judging by the breadth of mix CDs that Rebels tracks have appeared on (everything from FABRIC to MINISTRY OF SOUND). His sound has been indispensable to the world's top DJs and has been charted by the likes of DJ HELL, JACQUES LE CONT, BLACK STROBE and TREVOR JACKSON amongst many.
All of the artists featured here are creating amazing music - from many parts of the world, from South America to Eastern Europe. They include MATTHEW JONSON, ROMAN FLUGEL, ROB MELLO, BLACK STROBE, KIKI & SILVERSURFER and many more.
