'The Next End Of The World', is a wry commentary on the alarming power of the modern media and the waves of popular hysteria that increasingly grip the western world, neatly encapsulated within their characteristic shell of taut, compelling guitar pop.
Mostly recorded live in the studio, the album has a concise, elegant character, intelligent without pretension, and profound without pomposity.
Channels have quietly, subtly continued to take their traditional three-piece rock approach to new places, all the time tenaciously pursuing the ideological approach that has motivated them all along.
Choppy rhythms infused with melodic choruses, harmonics and bent-string guitar flourishes, back and forth vocalizing, and a predilection for somehow roping in the tightest drummers on the planet Darren Zentek may be the best yet) are all elements associated with whatever music project Robbins comes anywhere near.
