Three years after 'Rocket In The Pocket' and 'Reset the Preset', on the major label VIRGIN as well as on seminal indies like MATADOR, CONSOLE return with 'Mono' their gentle way of sound tracking a better world of dreaming...

Main project for MARTIN GRETSCHMANN, lead programmer for the German indie rockers known as THE NOTWIST also involved in the all star super group 13 & GOD.

'Mono' takes a conscious break from everything remotely resembling "electro-pop" and refines Console's capability to create fine atmospheres and gentle melodies and smoothly lather them in noise. MIRIAM OSTERRIEDER's voice is the star-turn instrument that is again and again emerging in the course of the album. 'Mono' is flickering all over between Pop and Ambient and even manages to integrate heavy weight cover-versions of BRIAN ENO's 'By This River'  and SONIC YOUTH's 'Starpower'  in the tenderly glowing Console flow without sounding pretentious.

Six of these eleven Mono tracks also appear in JÖRG ADOLPH's film 'Howelandt'.

Martin Gretschmann did co-operations/remixes with/for BJÖRK, DEPECHE MODE, BARBARA MORGENSTERN, etc.
