The legendary RAWKUS RECORDS label is relaunching after a well-noted hiatus, and spearheading the comeback is this exciting release, their first signing... THE PROCUSSIONS. This 3 piece drop an album destined to become a contemporary hip hop classic!
Anyone with even a vague knowledge of hip hop will remember that Rawkus Records defined the hip hop movement in the mid '90s, launching the careers of heavyweight artists like MOS DEF, JURASSIC 5, TALIB KWELI and COMPANY FLOW along with some of the genres most defining compilations such as 'Sound Bombing' and 'Lyricist Lounge'.
Rawkus went against the grain, instead of opting to sign MCs with cheap gimmicks and no substance, they signed MCs who pushed the musical envelope. Fast-forward to 2006 and Rawkus is back on the scene to push The Procussions career to the forefront.
Members STRO, REZ and MR.J.MEDEIROS have already been in the eyes, mouths, and ears of people all over the globe as they've toured heavily in recent years, including a headlining national tour of Australia under the Amnesty International banner. They are currently finishing up a tour in the USA with Hip Hop hero's A TRIBE CALLED QUEST.
With all in-house production by Stro the 89th key, The Procussions carry a unique sound only to be found in the mash-up of three very different individuals. They spend their energy bouncing inside the pocket and also off the top with subject matter bent on opening up hearts, eyes, minds, and sometimes wounds.
Featuring a host of A1 guests including TALIB KWELI, THE AFROBOTS, DJ VAJRA (4 Times DMC Finalist) & TARA ELIS (who has recently collaborated with WU TANG'S GHOST FACE KILLAH).
