- There's never been a father-son singer/songwriter relationship quite
like it. The Buckleys' story is one worthy of bestseller status. The legendary
and troubled troubadour, Tim, after myriad album releases (including 'Greetings
From LA', 'Sefronia' and 'Lorca') died in 1975 from a heroin and alcohol
overdose. His son Jeff, an incredibly gifted artist in his own right, after
releasing just one now-classic album ('Grace'), accidentally drowned at age
30 in 1997.
- There's no denying that in their respective untimely deaths, the world
lost two of the most talented and original voices of their eras. Both Tim
and Jeff Buckley left a lasting legacy of powerful, emotive music that continues
to touch listeners and newcomers to this day, and both artists have influenced
more contemporary songwriters than can be sensibly measured.
- This remarkable tribute to the songs of the Buckleys is inspired by
the book of the same name, by acclaimed author DAVID BROWNE. Rather than
opt for big name acts, this collection pursues a more intriguing path, mining
today's worlds of nu-folk and electronic music to deliver a group of fresh,
new artists that reflect the original inspiration without retreading old
ground.
