> After being politely booted from the Hurstville Boys High School Band for breaking down into funkbeats during the Theme To Hogan's Heroes, JOHN BLAKE aka DJ SOUP became a pro basketballer with the Sydney Kings. He then realized there was more to life than chucking a pigskin and started pursuing his real love, music.
> Soup released the influential album called 'Souperloops' in 97 which became feature album all around the country including TRIPLE J and inspired many musicians like the RESIN DOGS and SUPERFLUID.
> A critically acclaimed record followed with infamous 'Fat Pizza' star SLEEK THE ELITE which ingeniously fused beats of both Western and Arabic cultures.
> Two more Soup albums were released 'Eclectro' (1999) and 'From Anuva Planet' (2000).
> Now on INVADA RECORDS, 'Beatroot' (The Edible Root Of The Beat), is a freak out of quirky samples and big dope drums. Recorded completely at home in his studio called HEAbdENDERs Retreat, the album is an explosion of eclectic aural goodness.
> Those who dug the FDEL album 'Audio Fidelity' (INVCD018) will get into this
> Soup's music is diverse using recordings from all styles of music and periods. If you are into BUCK 65, MADLIB, PRINCE PAUL and old/new school hip hop with a kink, you should certainly check this one out.
