Floating Glass Key In The Sky
Ninja Tune
BEATS
Absolutely gorgeous new release on NINJA TUNE, and a major departure for the label.
This is the debut album for Tokyo minimalist ambient techno jazz wizz kids the RAINSTICK ORCHESTRA - aka BAKU TSUNODA and NAOMICHI TANAKA.
What they create together, using guitars, piano, bass & sequencers, is a delicate \'systems music\' that gives a nod to the minimalism of CAGE and REICH as well as echoing forms such as techno and jazz.
They have been working together as the Rainstick Orchestra for the last four years, and unsurprisingly, they both subscribe to the idea that music is \"borderless\".
Although Baku has released music under his own name, this is their first release as the Rainstick Orchestra.
\"Fusing the minimalist mindset of Steve Reich with gently plucked guitars and piano, in an ambient bubblebath reminiscent of Warp\'s seminal Artificial Intelligence compilations...\" BBC
